You’ve probably heard oodles of things about the Law of Attraction. The idea of creating something out of nothing feels exciting and makes the heart pump a little faster. But the reality is that unless you put forth some effort to achieve whatever it is that you want to manifest in your life, you will be sitting there forever, waiting and wondering why your wish hasn’t come true.
We want to manifest things in our lives, and it is very possible to make things happen in our favor. It’s more the act of setting an intention to achieve something than it is the act of simply wishing for something to happen.
To set an intention, you must decide upon what it is you would love to do or acquire in your life. Whether it is to find a life partner, to start a business, to write a novel, or to play any instrument, you need to figure out what is important to you – and it should be something that moves you on a deep level. Write out an intention statement, such as “I have a wonderful mate with whom I share my life.”
Some people may say this is all there is to setting an intention and making magic happen in your life. I say that they are partly correct. What you need to do next is take the necessary steps to make your intended dream come true. Start with allowing yourself to see and feel what it will be like when the magic happens and your intention becomes a physical reality.
This act of feeling and seeing is very important. If you cannot see or feel what your life will be like when you achieve your dream, then the intention you’ve set will not be very strong or effective. Get into the habit of spending a few moments every single day with your intention statement. Breathe it in and let it settle in your psyche. Get really jazzed about it. Feel and see it happening for you. Trust me, this is a very important step. It will launch you right into the energy of the intention.
Next, it’s important to map out the steps you need to take to achieve your stated intention. Yes, there is work involved. But if the dream is one that burns you and lights your inner fire, the work will be enjoyable. Truthfully, setting an intention is like setting a goal, but it’s more than that. It’s a passion. And anything that you want passionately is worth working toward.
If finding a life partner is your passion, then some steps you can take are as simple as making the effort to get out more. Open yourself to new experiences and social situations. Put yourself out there and allow the universe to do the work for you while you keep your intention in the forefront of your mind. It may sound silly to some, but projecting the image of what we desire does indeed act like a magnet to bring that object into our lives. The problem people have is not taking the necessary steps toward fulfilling their passionate dreams.
Take Mr. LaVeaux for an example. I can remember when I was actively seeking a mate. My expectations at the time were low and I was focusing on things I did NOT want in a man. So guess what kinds of men I found myself meeting? You guessed it…the wrong kind.
One day I went out to a park and sat on a bench alone with a notebook and pen in hand. It was difficult at first, but I told myself to think about what I wanted in a mate. WHAT I WANTED. So, I sat down and began listing things. I wanted a musician, a man who didn’t like sports, a man who didn’t have children, a man who didn’t watch television, a man who was creative and who could fix things. I even allowed myself to write down some physical attributes. I wanted someone just a bit taller than me but not over six feet in height. I wanted someone born in the 1960s. I wanted a man with dark hair and green eyes.
I wrote all this down and each night I meditated on my intention, seeing in my mind’s eye the man I needed and wanted in my life.
Guess who I met a few short months later? Yep. Mr. LaVeaux.
So think for a moment about something you would like to achieve in your life. Allow yourself to think big thoughts and dream big dreams. Engage yourself with life and let the magic happen.
Trust me on this. It will.
