A love of all things British

And now for something completely different…

(Who doesn’t love a clip from Monty Python’s Flying Circus?)

For as long as I can remember, I have absolutely adored everything to do with Great Britain.  I’m not sure if it’s because of my English ancestry or the fact that as a very young child I fell in love with the Beatles.  All I do know is I am crazy about any and all things British.

Give me anything from the tiny island nation – be it the music, television, books, whatever – and I will devour it.

Like most people, I have a bucket list.  Luckily, I have been able to achieve a lot of my dreams over the many years of my life.  No, they haven’t been massive dreams like climbing Everest, sailing around the world, or hiking the Appalachian Trail.  Mine have been achievable for the average, ordinary working person.  Even though I have accomplished a lot, there are still quite a few items on my list and one item I intend to cross off in the future is a trip to London.

Ahh, London.  Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, standing by the River Thames, eating authentic fish and chips, hanging out in authentic pubs, soaking in the delicious accent of the English people, the possibility of running into Jimmy Page walking down the street in Kensington…yes, I need to get there, and soon.

What was that old commercial we would hear on the radio and TV back home in Atlanta, years and years ago?  How did it go?  What were the words?  Oh yeah, I remember.

“Delta is ready when you are.”

Well Delta, hold onto a couple of seats for Mr. LaVeaux and me.  We will be climbing aboard you soon enough, you big old jet airliner.

(Sorry Steve Miller…I couldn’t resist.)
