On Being

I haven’t written much lately but I have done a lot of thinking, and it is that thinking that is prompting me to do a little writing this afternoon.

Please bear with me as I get my thoughts together. (more…)

We Are All Connected

The Joys of Early Cronehood

Bless Cheryl Coyote.

Somehow I was led to find this YouTuber today and feel inspired to share this video with the world.

I am creeping up on my 50th year of life and I agree with everything she says here. Any woman who finds herself reaching or having surpassed this milestone year of life should watch this.

Cheryl has magnificent mermaid hair, a real love of life, and an energy that inspires and uplifts.

My view is that we women do not get old unless we WISH to…we only grow better, wiser, and much more luscious with the passing of time if we embrace our aging and realize there is nothing in the world to fear.

Live Your Bliss

Several years ago, Mr. LaVeaux and I were shopping at Malaprops Bookstore in Asheville, North Carolina. My eye fell upon a book by Terry Cole-Whittaker called “Live Your Bliss.” I bought it, put it on my bookshelf and promptly forgot about it.

During the last few weeks, I have been working on my spiritual life…getting back in touch with certain aspects of my spirituality that have lain dormant for a time. A few nights ago, I walked to my bookshelf to look for something to read. It was then that I saw this book sitting there between a few other unread titles.

I grabbed it and sat down to read. (more…)

Mugwort tincture: my first experience

Last year, I made three tinctures using a single herb in each. I made lavender, mugwort and echinacea. The echinacea was specifically for Mr. LaVeaux. He has quite a time fighting colds in the winter months.

Over the winter, he used up the entire bottle I’d made and, not surprisingly, he stayed well the whole season.

I had forgotten about the other two tinctures until this past weekend when I found them up in a kitchen cabinet. I took down the mugwort and decided to give it a try. (more…)

The Laniakea Supercluster

Mind-blowing science. Mind-blowing. This is where we actually live, and this is what humans have been able to decipher about our cosmic home.

Just stunning.

To be at the sea

I woke up this morning thinking about the beach and how much I would love to walk on sand and feel the cold ocean water on my feet. I’m fairly close to the Atlantic seaboard, but not close enough for a quick visit.

Are you like me and unable to get to the seashore today? Then do what I’m doing and use your imagination.

Get into a quiet place and close your eyes. Listen to the video here and imagine yourself at the beach. I can almost smell the salt in the air and feel the sun on my skin.

Why don’t you join me?
