It’s still a planet to me

This is the very first photo of the former planet, Pluto.

I looked up the distance from Earth to Pluto and must admit, I’m actually a bit speechless.

Depending on where they are on their orbits, the distances from here to there are anywhere from 2.66 to 4.67 billion miles.

The spacecraft took nine and a half years to get there.

That’s an unfathomable distance and an incredible length of time to travel. Let that sink in for a bit.

Pluto has an interesting surface and color scheme. Too bad we aren’t able to investigate it further. Way out on the furthest reaches of our solar system…the temperature must be amazingly cold.

Let the imagination begin.

And while I gaze upon this image, I have to say that Pluto will always be a planet to me.
