September…the herald of things to come

For those of us in the northern hemisphere who have suffered from a terribly hot summer, the first day of September brings with it the hope for a cooler tomorrow. While here in the Southeastern US we are still dealing with the heat (and a tropical storm to boot), we know that autumn is on its way.

When the autumnal equinox hits here in Georgia, the only transitional experience we have is the tilt of the sun on the horizon. The heavenly shadows created as the sun moves further south in the sky gives us a reason to pause and reflect. Sad that summer is coming to an end, we rejoice in the cooler and less humid days that are rapidly approaching.

September is the herald of things to come. Good things. May September bring with it a beautiful autumnal season for my fellow readers north of the equator, and a beautiful spring season to those south of it.

Life is Short, So Do What Makes You Smile

As I’ve grown older, I see the value in finding joy and happiness in life every single day.

Life is short. Do what makes you smile.

What have you been putting off in your life, waiting for “the right time?” Today is the right time to pursue an idea, dream, skill, education…you name it. What is that wished-for wish, that long-unfulfilled achievement?

Is there a valid reason why you can’t start today? Even one little step today toward the direction of your dream is one little step closer to making it a reality.

Do more of what makes you happy.

Do more. Do often!

“Stem” by Fügügüffü – Music for a Dark Moon

Not too long ago while listening to Georgia Tech’s radio station, WREK.org, I heard this band from my native Atlanta. Captivated by the dark sounds flowing through my computer speakers, I looked up the band online and found their Bandcamp website.

In preparation for the dark moon, I am listening to their album “Stem” and allowing the primordial sounds to lull me into a blissful, deep state of relaxation.

If you enjoy this type of thing, go here and listen: http://fuguguffu.bandcamp.com

While you are there, check out the tracks “Void Planet” and “Menacing Earthworks.”

I’m tuning into this deep frequency and chilling out as I gaze into the void…
