Mugwort tincture: my first experience

Last year, I made three tinctures using a single herb in each. I made lavender, mugwort and echinacea. The echinacea was specifically for Mr. LaVeaux. He has quite a time fighting colds in the winter months.

Over the winter, he used up the entire bottle I’d made and, not surprisingly, he stayed well the whole season.

I had forgotten about the other two tinctures until this past weekend when I found them up in a kitchen cabinet. I took down the mugwort and decided to give it a try. (more…)

Echinacea tincture for cold and flu season

Rosemary Gladstar is an excellent resource for all things herbal.

Just this past weekend, Mr. LaVeaux and I purchased a packet of echinacea purpurea herb so we could make a tincture.  Now that cold and flu season is upon us, we want to be ready for the cold, dark winter months.  Last year, neither one of us got sick because we took echinacea as well as zinc, elderberry and loads of Vitamin C.  Naysayers may pooh-pooh this, but we were well throughout the entire fall and winter season.
