Sami folk music

As the earth turns toward winter, my thoughts fly north to the top of the world

When the cold winds begin to blow here in the Southeastern United States, I am drawn to the furthest northern lands on our beautiful planet.  For some reason, autumn and winter make me crave the barren landscape of the Arctic regions of the earth, the lands of ice and snow, the lands of the Sami peoples of Scandinavia, and the beautiful joik music like this presented here.

Wimme Saari is a joik singer from Finland, and if you listen to his vocalizations you will hear a similarity to the chantings of Native American tribal peoples.  Fascinating stuff here.  Hope you like it and that this will help your spirit prepare for the icy weather to come.
