September

September…the herald of things to come

For those of us in the northern hemisphere who have suffered from a terribly hot summer, the first day of September brings with it the hope for a cooler tomorrow. While here in the Southeastern US we are still dealing with the heat (and a tropical storm to boot), we know that autumn is on its way.

When the autumnal equinox hits here in Georgia, the only transitional experience we have is the tilt of the sun on the horizon. The heavenly shadows created as the sun moves further south in the sky gives us a reason to pause and reflect. Sad that summer is coming to an end, we rejoice in the cooler and less humid days that are rapidly approaching.

September is the herald of things to come. Good things. May September bring with it a beautiful autumnal season for my fellow readers north of the equator, and a beautiful spring season to those south of it.

Welcome September

Ahh, September. The not-quite-cool month of the autumnal equinox.

September, I love you.

What a hot, hot summer we had down here in the South. Fall cannot get here soon enough for me, though in my corner of Georgia it doesn’t really begin to cool down and dry out until early November.

Still…September.

The way the shadows fall at a steeper angle as the sun makes its way toward the western horizon.

The way the air feels a bit crisper, even though the thermometer screams SUMMER!

September, you will always be my favorite month of the year.
